Percha Dam State Park Bird Walk

Western Bluebird

Go on a Bird Walk at Percha Dam State Park. Meet at the park at 8 am. (MAP) Percha Dam is just under 2 hour drive from El Paso. This is a great place to watch birds, especially during migration. This State Park is an open bosque of cottonwoods. Some of the birds we can see are Black Phoebe, Northern Flicker, Ladder Backed Woodpeckers, Phainopepla, Western Bluebirds and Pyrrhuloxia among others.

Bring mosquito repellant, sunscreen, a hat, good walking shoes and water. We will be walking through thick vegetation so pants are recommended. Don't forget your binoculars and field guide books if you have them. Bring a sack lunch for a picnic at the park after we bird. There is a $5 Day Use Fee per Vehicle.
