The Rio Grande, Picacho Mountain and the Robledo Mountains
Take a moderately strenuous loop hike of around six miles with an elevation gain of 1200 feet to the top of Picacho Mountain. This hike also ventures into Box Canyon, which is along the path of the historic Butterfield Trail.
Meet at 8 AM for caravaning in the Kohl’s parking lot by Starbuck’s on Redd and I-10. (MAP). The group will leave promptly at 8:15 AM. Bring 3-4 liters of water, snacks, and a mask. Wear sturdy hiking shoes and wear a hat and/or use sunscreen.
