Bishop’s Cap Flourite

Bishop’s Cap Flourite

Join Celebration of Our Mountains Board Director and geologist, Paul Galvan, on this easy to moderate hike to collect rarely preserved fossils and beautiful minerals (calcite, fluorite, barite, quartz and gypsum) in the southern Organ Mountains. High clearance vehicles ONLY can navigate this area. Expert hikers can continue uphill to see anthills made of quartz crystals! Bring plenty of water, snacks, proper attire for the sun and a mask. Social distancing is required. Meet at the Dairy Queen, Transmountain Rd. and I-10. (MAP)
