While you are staying in Silver City, consider lodging downtown at either the newly restored Murray Hotel or the historic classic, Palace Hotel. I've stayed at both and love both of them. The Murray was remodeled to have modern rooms, but is a prime example of Art Deco architecture. The Palace is European traditional. It also has a ghost.

There are great restaurants downtown. However, for my money, I always eat at the Buckhorn Saloon and Opera House in Pinos Altos, just north of Silver.
