Scenic Sundays: A Walk Through Time

Halycties, chain coral

Take a leisurely walk up the west side of Scenic Drive with short educational talks on plants, landslides, fossils, and regional geology by Dr. Eric Kappus of Southwest University. You wil see the world's largest corals, largest snail, largest nautiloid, and largest single-celled organism. These are famous fossils known from El Paso to Nova Scotia! Your walk will be one mile round trip. Skill Level: Beginner level with a moderate optional ending (a hike up to the ridge above Scenic Point)

Wear sturdy shoes, appropriate attire, and a hat. Bring water.

Meet at the intersection of Robinson, Rim, and Scenic Drive on the west side. There is limited parking, with more parking down Rim Road.  (MAP)

This field trip is co-sponsored by the Frontera Land Alliance.
