Enjoy a moderate 4-5 hour, 5 miles hike at the north end of the Franklin Mountains. Meet at the Trail Head on NM404/Anthony Gap Road. Directions:  From I-10 West, take exit 162 (Anthony/Chaparral) NM 404. Drive east 4.2 miles. At the exact place where the passing lane ends, turn right onto a dirt road.  Go through a green gate.  There is a $5 FMSP fee and you can get that HERE.  Bring 2-3 liters of water, snacks and sturdy hiking boots. This hike is dog friendly if you dog has been trained and socialized. Bring doggie bags and water. 

Driving directions to the trail head: From I-10 West take exit 162 Anthony/Chaparral NM404 exit; drive east 4.2 miles. At the exact place where the passing lane ends, turn right, open and close the green gate, drive 2/10ths mile to a flat parking area on the left.

From the east or northeast: From the Patriot Freeway /Hwy 54 Take the MLK Jr Blvd north for 8 miles, at the roundabout turn left onto Anthony Gap RoadNM404, Drive 4 miles and the green gate will be on your left.
