Desert Discovery Day (Asombro Institute for Science Education) December 3rd 10:00-1:00pm at the Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park, 56501 N. Jornada Road, Las Cruces NM. The event is free. The event includes the grand opening of AISE’s newest trail, the Gateway to the Desert Trail, the new trail includes a 0.6-mile loop trail, a half-mile trail connecting the loop to the rest of the trail system at the nature park, an entrance kiosk, interpretive signs, benches and a parking area.
During Desert Discovery Day, visitors can walk the new trail, visit hands-on activity stations to learn more about weather, desert animals and tools to help identify plants and animals. Visitors will also be welcome to participate in a crowd-sourced, timelapse photo project to monitor a desert restoration project and a scavenger hunt and earn free prizes.
