Join Jesuit Fr. Rafael Garcia, Pastor of Sacred Heart Church, and Dr. Max Grossman, architectural and urban historian, for a tour of the “most iconic building” in the Segundo Barrio of El Paso, Sacred Heart Church, established in 1893 by Fr. Carlos M. Pinto, a Jesuit missionary from Salerno, Italy. You will learn about the history, architecture and sacred art and furnishings of the church.

Afterwards take a short walking tour of the Barrio with Dr. Grossman. We might even grab a bite together at Jalisco Cafe, 1029 E 7th Ave. (MAP) Meet at 602 S. Oregon Street. (MAP)

Efforts are now underway to restore the church and what was once Sacred Heart School. Please go to the restoration website for more information about the church and the plans to restore it. You may want to donate to the fund for restoring the church.
