McKittrick Canyon: a Guadalupe Mountains Experience

Bright fall colors of deciduous trees are not common in the southwest, but elevation and environment combine in the Guadalupe Mountains for a seasonally striking display usually from mid-October to Mid-November. Join us for a day hike to enjoy the splendor of Mckittrick canyon down to the shady area known as The Grotto. Meet in the Walmart parking lot, 12236 Montana Avenue. (MAP) at 6 AM. (Look for the Blue Colorado Pick up by the Chick-fil-a). The drive is roughly 2 hours long to the Mckittrick Canyon entrance. The hike is approximately 4-5 hours round trip and is rated easy to moderate. Bring plenty of water, snacks, hat, walking sticks and anything you may need for the hike. The entrance fee is 10 dollars per person paid at the park pay station. We recommend bringing a camera to capture the scenery and wildlife along the trail.
