The Robledos are an uplifted block of Paleozoic rocks on the west side of the Rio Grande Rift. The hike meanders over the gradual foothills of the northern Robledos while passing up and over 7+ dry waterfalls with intriguing rock formations en route to the top of Faulkner Box Canyon then loops around to the west side of the Box Canyon with a gradual descent which encompasses more waterfalls and scrambling. Strange rocks appear out of nowhere and colorful rock formations form playful waterfalls that make for enjoyable hiking with lots of scrambling. At the top of the Faulkner Box Canyon cliff face you will get a magnificent view of the canyon below.
