We apologize. Regrettably, this field trip has been cancelled. We hope to re-schedule it for spring 2021.
Visit and hike through the 935-acre Chihuahuan Desert Nature Park site, a “topographically and biologically diverse example of this beautiful desert.” Get spectacular views of the Organ Mountains, San Andres Mountains and the Jornada Basin. During this tour, you will learn about the Chihuahuan Desert, its plants and animals, the geology, and its early human inhabitants. Some of the topics to be covered are desert plant adaptations, desertification, desert animal adaptations, geology, invertebrates and more.
Join Dr. Paul Hyder, one of the founders of the nature park in 1991 and a former executive director, along with Ryan Pemberton, park docent, and William Lukefahr, M.S. Bring a liter or more of water. Wear a hat or sunscreen. Bring a mask. Recommended: binoculars and camera or smart phone.
