Join Celebration of Our Mountains Board members, Paul Galvan and Eric Kappus, on a field trip to this famous volcano, which is not only the youngest volcano in the El Paso/Juarez region, it is also where Apollo astronauts trained. Kilbourne Hole erupted tons of the August birthstone "peridot" and you can collect the gemstone while you are there! Meet at Rudy's BBQ on Artcraft at I-10, 6401 South Desert Blvd. (MAP) and caravan from there. High clearance vehicles only. The trip is 6-hours long so make sure you have a full tank of gas, plenty of water and snacks, and a hat. Please bring a mask. Observe social distancing as best as possible. Hand sanitizer will be available. For more information, contact Paul Galvan, georocks30@gmail.com.
