Enjoy beautiful desert vistas as you take this moderate 6-miles, 4-hours hike. This is a good beginner/intermediate hike if you know that you can hike the distance over uneven ground. There is a $2 FMSP fee or use your TX Parks Pass. Go to the Tom Mays unit of the Franklin Mountains State Park. (DIRECTIONS) After paying at the booth, drive to the very end of the road, where all the picnic tables are. Bring 2-3 liters of water, snacks and sturdy hiking boots. This hike is dog-friendly if your dog has been trained and socialized. Bring doggie bags and water.
