Go Birding at Rattlesnake Springs

Lucys-Warbler.jpeg

Travel to the green oasis of Rattlesnake Springs, a part of Carlsbad Caverns National Park.  It is an Important Bird Area (IBA) and an outstanding stopover site for land birds.  You might see the Least Flycatcher, Great-crested Flycatcher, Great Kiskadee, Carolina Wren , Hooded Warbler, Lucy's Warbler, Red-eyed Vireo, Blackburnian Warbler, Prothonotary Warbler, Black-throated Green Warbler and the Baltimore Oriole. It is a long drive, just over 2 hours long, and because of the heat, departure from the Evergreen Cemetery, 12400 E. Montana, will be promptly at 6:00 AM.  Bring a lunch and plenty of water and sunscreen.  Nonmembers and beginners are welcome.  Email elpasoaudubon@gmail.com for more information.
