El Paso Geology Overview: a Geo-Ventures Event

Learn about Franklin Mountains faulting and strata, the formation of the Hueco and Mesilla Bolsons, the Cristo Rey plutons and the Sierra de Juarez folding and faulting. Start with a 20-minutes moderate hike, followed by a tram ride to the top of the south Franklin Mountains ridge. Discuss and view regional geology from the tram overlook. Optional strenuous and steep hike up/down the Directissimo Trail for avid, experienced hikers only. Bring water (at least one liter), hiking or running shoes, hat, a pen and pad. 

Meet at Wyler Aerial Tramway via McKinley and Alabama. MAP
