Thunder Canyon Guided Hike

Learn about the local ecology, birds, mammals and plants at Thunder Canyon. Thunder Canyon is owned by the City of El Paso. The Frontera Land Alliance ensures that the conservation easement is enforced. Meet at the end of Oak Cliff off Pebble Beach. From I10 exit Sunland Park Drive and head east. Stay on Sunland Park and the name changes to Shadow Mountain after you cross Mesa Street. Take a right onto Pebble Beach Dr. Turn right on Oak Cliff. Oak Cliff dead ends at Thunder Canyon. This 1.5 hours guided hike is free and will be led by biologist, ornithologist and former Curator at UTEP’s Centennial Museum, Scott Cutler. The terrain is rocky and uneven. Bring binoculars and camera. Wear sunblock, a hat, long sleeves and pants and sturdy shoes – no open-toed shoes. Frontera will provide water but bring extra if you want.
