The destination for this rock hunting trip has changed from Lavender Hill to Big Diggins. Go rock hunting for agate. Big Diggins is a world class agate area about 25 miles south of Deming, NM. Celebration of Our Mountains has the privilege of being invited to three agate claims in that area. Meet at Rudy’s on Artcraft and I-10. Bring water, sunscreen, collecting basket, geology hammer or similar tool(s) and a camera (optional). collect till about noon and come home. There are several good restaurants in Deming for those that want to eat before returning. The road to Big Diggins has been good, but, with all the rain, some washouts may have occurred, so a high clearance vehicle is recommended.Meeting time and where to meet will be the same.
